For over two decades, Scott Bond Services has offered surety license bonds to collection agency licensees nationwide. We combine streamlined underwriting with very competitive pricing and typically provide same-day responses.

Are Collection Agency License Bonds difficult to obtain?

The underwriting is relatively straight-forward (compared to some other types of license bonds). Typically, time in business and/or the business owner’s experience plays a significant role along with the credit of the business owner. For larger programs, the financial strength of the business can also be a consideration.

Are personal credit reports and personal guarantees always required?

Personal credit reports are a standard underwriting tool, so yes, they are typically required. However, we are often able to secure bonding without personal guarantees.

How quickly will I receive approval?

Typically, an underwriting response can be obtained the same day after completion of a simple application.

Will one Collection Agency License Bond cover multiple states?

No. While the majority of states do not have bond requirements in this category, you’ll need to post a separate title bond for each state that does. The required bond language is specific to each state and only supports a particular license. Our Bond Specialists are experienced with all state bond forms and will help ensure you get the proper bond for your license type.

Are Collection Agency License Bonds required in all states?

At this time, 30 states have a bond requirement for Collection Agencies or Debt Collectors as they are sometimes called.

What size Collection Agency License Bond will I need?

This will depend on the state. In the vast majority of instances, amounts range from $5,000 to $50,000; however, there are a few states where bond requirements can run much higher (usually for high volume licensees).
