Scott Insurance Announces New Vice Presidents
Scott Insurance is pleased to announce the appointment of five new vice presidents, effective immediately. The appointments, which were made by the Scott Insurance Board of Directors, include employee owners working in sales and operational functions who have made significant contributions to the company’s growth and success.
The new vice presidents are:
Russell Carter, Vice President, Benefits Consultant, Raleigh, N.C.
- Carter is a Benefits Consultant based out of Scott Insurance’s Raleigh office. In this role, he advises mid-market companies on comprehensive employee benefits strategy and provides expert insight and resources on group health captives, healthcare funding, plan design and utilization analysis. In 2021, Carter became an accredited Health Rosetta Benefits Advisor, which exhibits his commitment to an industry-leading standard of transparency and fiduciary responsibility to his clients and their employees. Carter is actively engaged in the Raleigh community and serves on the board of Haven House Services. He earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Dustin DeJarnette, Vice President, Director of P&C Technical Development & Compliance, Lynchburg, Va.
- DeJarnette joined Scott Insurance in 2007 and served as a Commercial Compliance Specialist for over 15 years before being named the Director of Technical Development and Compliance in 2023. He provides expertise and training regarding commercial insurance products, coverages and services and advises on regulatory compliance standards. DeJarnette is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and is certified as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) through The Institutes and a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) through The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.

Matt Hill, Vice President, Risk Advisor, Knoxville, Tenn.
- Hill joined Scott Insurance after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Accounting. As a Risk Advisor, he partners with companies to develop and deploy comprehensive insurance and risk management strategies, with a focus on alternative risk finance structures. Hill is also active in the community, serving on the board of directors for a Boys & Girls Club organization. In addition to his primary role advising clients, Hill also serves as the branch leader of Scott’s Knoxville office. He has also earned his Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.

Jared Karnes, Vice President, Risk Advisor, Knoxville, Tenn.
- Karnes works out of Scott’s Knoxville office. As a Risk Advisor, he develops proactive risk financing and management strategies for middle-market companies. His areas of specialization include construction/contractor, affordable housing, workers’ compensation, and alternative risk finance. Karnes received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Belmont University-Nashville and his Juris Doctorate from Cecil C. Humphrey School of Law at the University of Memphis. He also holds his Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist designation (CLCS).

Christy Lose, Vice President, Commercial Compliance Specialist, Lynchburg, Va.
- Lose joined Scott Insurance in 2004 as a Commercial Account Manager and transitioned to a P&C operations role in 2017. She provides technical coverage training and serves as a resource for coverage and procedure-related issues. Lose earned bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and English from Valparaiso University and a master’s degree in English from the University of Kentucky. She also holds her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations.
